After the day at the beach, we had problems with the AC

My girlfriend and I live in Cocoa, Florida. We are only a few miles away from the beach. We frequently go to Cocoa Beach which is about 15 minutes away from our place. We were down at the beach on Tuesday and we decided to stay all day. We had a cooler with some sandwiches, chips, and drinks. We had an umbrella, blanket, and a small table and chairs. I got a little bit of a sunburn, but my girlfriend applied plenty of sunscreen and she was just fine. We drove back to Cocoa around 6:00 p.m. There was a little bit of traffic on the highway because it was a weekday. When my girlfriend and I got back to our apartment, we started making dinner. It was cool in the apartment when we arrived, but it started to get warmer the longer that we were there. I checked to make sure that the front door wasn’t open. I checked the thermostat. That air conditioner was running, but it was 78° in the apartment. I grabbed a small step stool from the area in the kitchen and I put my hand up to the air vent. I couldn’t tell if the air was cool or not. It definitely didn’t feel icy cold. I decided we should call the apartment maintenance person so they could come over to the Cocoa apartment complex and check to see if there was a problem with the AC. I definitely didn’t want to wait until it was 85° in the house.
