When we visited Orland Park, IL, during the summer, I thought I would spend time with my family and relax for a while.
My kids had other ideas.
The first thing they wanted to do was go mini golfing with Grandma and Grandpa. My dad hadn’t been to Space Park since I was a little girl, and he was excited to go. Grandma never liked mini golf, but the weather was beautiful and she went with us. We never broke a sweat until the afternoon. The air had a bit of chill since it was only sixty-five degrees at 10 AM. By noon, the temperatures recovered into the low 80s, where it stayed for the rest of the day. We spent almost three hours at the Space Park until my stomach growled. We had missed breakfast because of how anxious my father and the kids were to go to Space Park. We went to a Dave and Buster’s for lunch. The din of the restaurant had me ready to go to a quieter restaurant, but this was one of dad’s favorite. It was like Chuckie Cheese for adults. The kids were old enough to enjoy the games, and dad played along. I welcomed the air conditioning of the restaurant. I got a bit of a sunburn at Space Park, and the air conditioning felt good on my skin. We spent the next two days playing mini golf at Space Park in the morning and visiting Lake Katherine in the afternoon. I think it was the most enjoyable getaway I had ever been on. The only change I would have made was having my husband with us.
