Living in SD means that heating is the priority, our winter season season comes early and doesn’t let up, however the evening time temps get into the single digs! Windchill makes it feel like it is in the downsides, but it gets pretty horrible sometimes.
I recently changed my heating situation and that made a world of difference.
I was relying on an oil boiler and then changed to a gas boiler. The oil boiler burns a hotter flame. It was more efficient and could heat a larger space, then however, I hated having an on place oil tank in my house. It was ugly and used up half of myspace. I also didn’t like being dependent on oil deliveries. There were times the snow stopped deliveries and my friend and I were running entirely short. I was worried a few times that my home was going to be unheated. The cost of oil is consistently so costly too, and a gas boiler just seemed better. I called around and I found a Sioux Falls Heating and Air Conditioning corporation that does oil to gas conversions. He removed the oil tank and added gas hookups and a flue system. I then got the boiler hooked up to the ductwork and off my friend and I went. It was so nice having a gas boiler instead. There was no more fear of running out and no more ugly tank. The gas boiler works just fine for SD weather too. My friend and I run it basically 24/7 and the system never seems to want to supply up. I am happy that it can heat the whole household with ductwork.
