Since 1972, my parents have owned and operated a heating supply and repair business.
The heating supply and repair business started off very small, but it has significantly grown over the past 50 years.
My brother took over the business when he was 25 years old. I went to college, but now I am working for the company too. I was always jealous that my brother was having a lot of fun with my dad. They got to spend a lot of quality time together and I missed out on that when I was getting a college degree. I wanted to be part of the business and my degree in engineering made it easy to make the transition. Since my brother and I have been running things, the business has more than doubled in size. We recently bought a factory in South Bend, Indiana, where we are going to have our own fabrication plants. We will be making lots of different sheet metal projects for our commercial clients. The new fabrication plant is in a factory that is over 50,000 ft. We are going to be moving the location of the HVAC business from our place here to South Bend. It will require a little more driving for some of our associates, but everyone will benefit when we move into a larger piece of real estate. We will be able to house twice as many parts and that means being able to complete a lot of work that previously had to wait until parts can arrive. My brother and I are looking forward to all of the new changes, but we certainly aren’t looking forward to moving day. It’s going to take more than a month to move everything unless I hire a professional moving company.
